Tuesday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 11 Tate and I helped set up the R.O.A.R. (Russell's Original Art Review) Show in Russell. Starting in 1969, my dad, along with the fellow art teachers of Russell, the ROAR Committee, and the Lion's Club, dedicated countless hours to this annual treasure every October. Both of my parents loved this event and it's always been a significant part of our family. Dad would have been proud to see Tate helping put the peg board up and hanging pieces with ROAR Board Member, Tranda Strnad. These are pictures of them completing one of walls.

This year marked the first recipient of the Derril Castor Tribute Award. Dad would have loved this cutting board. Joe Kirkendall shared with us the types of branch "cookies" he used in this piece. I look forward to seeing more of his work. My brother, Mitch, and I were honored to meet Joe and get our picture with him.

For any Kansas artist, please consider entering the show next year, especially if you have sculpture or ceramic pieces which are the categories open for Dad's award! For everyone else, put Russell on your weekend stop for 2024! Check the ROAR website for details and this year's pictures (coming soon). https://www.roarart.org/ ROAR is also on FB.

Many of friends know I wear this pendant frequently as a reminder of my dad. He was instrumental in getting this made for the 50th Anniversary of ROAR in 2018.
